About Me

Mara Kustra, die Tuebinger Lifestyle Boutique, is a creation of Mara Kustra, a native New Yorker now living in Tuebingen, Germany since 2015. Mara grew up in New York and studied business in both New York & London and later learned and applied interior design and merchandising skills.  After University, Mara landed a job in NYC at a Wall Street start up firm learning the ins & outs of running a business. After several years at the firm, Mara felt that she had learned what she needed and that the Wall Street vibe just did not satisfy her creative side. Hence, she moved to Massachusetts. 

Within one year, she opened up her first boutique. In 2000 Boutique Fabulous in Cambridge, Massachusetts was born. Boutique Fabulous in a very short time took off. It was featured in countless of magazines, was on several television shows and over many years won many awards including a “Best of Boston” award within its first year. Over time she had gained a very loyal following which included many celebrities. The draw was that her boutique carried many original items and encompassed Mara's very eclectic style & flare. Each section in the store had a theme & popped with a different design & color. It was even quoted in the Boston Phoenix Newspaper that the store was a “living art installation”. Mara spent a lot of her time travelling the world, finding and meeting new artists and sourcing items that were unique covering all tastes & styles. For Mara, Boutique Fabulous, was a huge achievement and something to be very proud of. However, after a long hard decision and 15 years of success, in 2015 Mara decided it was time for the next move in her life. She sold the store and moved with her family to Europe. Since her husband is German, Germany was the most natural and easy direction to go. Mara’s first 5 years in Germany were devoted to acclimating to a new land, learning a new language, learning about the German culture and most importantly to be a mom! These five years were very important to her. She observed and immersed herself in the Deutsch culture, travelled often and worked at a small boutique learning and understanding this new culture's taste & style. This all helped her to understand what Tuebingen and its visitors want and like, & lead to the creation of Mara Kustra….die Lifestyle Boutique!
